Going out on my own!

It’s time now to up the ante and stretch myself a little more, so my website is finally live and I am ready to go!

Hi everyone! I thought I would write my first blog post about setting up on my own.

First here is a little bit about me, I left Johnson & Johnson after 13 years last year and relocated back down to the central belt of Scotland. At the same time I made the big decision to set up my own HR Consultancy rather than go back into the world of corporate HR.

It’s been a whirlwind year, moving house twice with 2 kids. In the meantime I have been doing consultancy work and I have loved it!! But it’s time now to up the ante and stretch myself a little more, so my website is finally live and I am ready to go!

So what am I doing that is different to other HR Consultancies? Most consultancies offer support with operational, day-to-day HR. They are providing important and critical support with writing policies, reviewing contracts, and handling disciplinaries and grievances. I can provide all of the operational HR support, but I also have in-depth experience in growing talent within the business, by offering strategic support in establishing people development programmes, running recruitment campaigns, supporting succession planning etc.

So in essence a completely personal end-to-end service, where you would truly have someone partner with you to bring about the best innovative HR solutions from operational to strategic HR. I find that a business usually needs elements of both, and therefore it’s hugely beneficial to work with one HR consultant that gets to understand the business and is able to support with both aspects.

I am also offering an additional service; to work with and equip school and university leavers into the workplace. It’s a world of emotions leaving school or university and it can be hard to know where to start, and the pressure to find a great job can be immense. I hope to help break the search and preparation down into bite-sized chunks and take some of the fear out of it!
